Outdoor Play IoT Construction Kit (2019)

Created with Gavin Wood and the rest of the team on the Playing Out with IoT project.

A reconfigurable set of parts that provide children with various ways of playing outdoors with the Sams Labs coding kit (a partner on the project). The construction kit was created as a response to prototypes made with children during a series of co-creative workshops at a community center in the North East of England. During these workshops, we learned about the children's outdoor free play, created prototypes for the children to play with, and then integrated what we learned into the construction kit design. Along with various predefined configurations, the kit allows children to create their own IoT playthings through coding and the configuration of physical parts that are watertight and robust enough to be played with outdoors.
